25 - Walk With Me (Writing About an Image)
Far away
the blueness on the horizon tugs
strings pulled tight and we're compelled
pulled
toward that blueness
toward the vast waves of clouds and trees and
do you remember getting lost, you and I?
In the forest
where every sound is an overture
an adventure
gestating
I won't forget
the tangy scent of trees
the rolling of the clouds
overhead
the warmth of that blue
distance
that we bridged together
24 - Depression (Writing About an Image)
The trees took her
Dragged her down and down
into the earth
buried
tied down and torn
shards of a woman
pieces
stitched and laced and sewn
a jigsaw of hip and hand and lips
a monster
the trees dragged her down
into the darkness
where only dripping water can console her
and she can't even remember
her own name

23 - The Original Thought (Writing About an Image)
I need to dream of something bigger
a centered peace disrupted
by cars and papers and
loud colors
dying clouds
little, tiny, distracting
things
really
I must think of something, now
before it's too late
Digging deep into the subconscious, ideas
pouring out suddenly like a wound
bleeding out memories
words and stories and
the icy cut of insults
absorbed
knocked aside
He thought and thought and
puddled everything in the middle
originality
a fiery sun trapped in his mind
and he burned
he burned
he burned

22 - Everything (Writing About an Image)
When nothing is left except
the palaces we built as children
when the sky streaks gold
and bleeds into the last area of dark
look for me
behind our favorite pillar
behind the black-edged mountains
with a halo of light
When all the we can hear is
our heartbeats
the song
we wrote as children
find me
take my hand
I'll lead you safely into the dark
21 - Goodbye (Writing About an Image)
There was something sad about the way
the angel begged
his friend to stay
dried wood and fragile straws
dried and dead and
crumbling to dust
but the angel begged
I need you
Nay, said the creature, you have
silken wings
Fly
I need you
The creature crumbled into the earth
20 - Hope (Writing About an Image)
She planted the roses in the desert
cut blooms
no roots
red beauty in the dry, cracked earth
But she was ready for the rains to come
and so was he
watching
waiting for a new bloom
waiting for the earth to bleed
new life

19 - Cosmos (Writing About an Image)
This world is so small
a tree
and we are the fruit
The moon is so close,
we can taste it
or we want to
the grass cool beneath
our feet as we reach
space even colder
burning
our lungs, but intoxicating
we don't want to go
the beauty
is too much to leave behind
spiraling headlong
into darkness

18 - Deep Space (writing about an image)
There's a moment where she thinks she can fly,
feet cooled by the currents of air
that make the slender chains tremble
a breath
facing down into icy clouds
touching skin
barely
a frozen kiss
toes curled
She's hanging from the walls
that block her sky
light rising
thin wooden seat only a mirage
Will it fade into smoke?
Will she join
the cold tumbles of white air
thin
and translucent as glass?
17 - Beautiful (Haiku #7)
You eyes like a punch
Head snapping back as I take it
Take it all inside
Head snapping back as I take it
Take it all inside
16 - And Now I Understand (Haiku #6)
I can see without
glasses, without light or dark,
without colors or words
glasses, without light or dark,
without colors or words
15 - Random Texts (Haiku #5)
Little words broken
Remember to get some eggs
I will not forget
Remember to get some eggs
I will not forget
14 - Shower (Haiku #4)
Water twisting warm
Lime and bergamot in foam
Closed eyes, open lungs
Lime and bergamot in foam
Closed eyes, open lungs
13 - Livid (Haiku #3)
Red burns hot beneath
and my skin vermillion
My soul flickers out
and my skin vermillion
My soul flickers out
12 - Honest (Haiku #2)
Crying over you
is not the wisest thing I
could do. But I am.
is not the wisest thing I
could do. But I am.
11 - Spring Evening (Haiku #1)
Warm breeze wafts softly
My shadow is reflection
I feel beautiful
My shadow is reflection
I feel beautiful

NOTE:
Hi everyone! As you've probably noticed, I had to take off a few days. But I plan to catch up today and then start a new theme for this week.
Hope everyone is doing well... Keep writing! :)

10 - Panic
Breathe
In and out and
The air is full of glass
shredding me until I can join it
particles of diamond
glitters of silver threads
Breathe
In
and exhale
slow
one
breath at a time
You can do it.

shredding me until I can join it
particles of diamond
glitters of silver threads
Breathe
In
and exhale
slow

9 - Street Harassment
There is so much air
pushing
pulling tugging shoving
wind
storm that rips at my clothes
a naughty flirt
I just roll my eyes
resist the tugging fingers
the sliding breezes
under my hat
around my legs
go away
I don't want you here
silence your whispers
silence
fade
pushing
pulling tugging shoving
wind
storm that rips at my clothes
a naughty flirt
I just roll my eyes
resist the tugging fingers
the sliding breezes
under my hat
around my legs
go away
I don't want you here
silence your whispers
silence
fade

8 - Peace
Even the first
splatters of rain
have me up and out of bed, pressed
nose-first against the cold glass
I love rain
When it starts
I breathe out
When it sends I sigh and
wait eagerly
even though now
all is silent
when you call
you have me up and out of bed
grinning like an idiot
at 3am
It doesn't matter
when
Last night it rained
and you called
and I exhaled so deeply that
my lungs grew roots and
sprouted flowers

7 - New Job
She screams pink
and gold
tasting the lipstick-tinted flavor of
freedom and plastic-held cosmetics
reveling
in the fact that she has been
set loose by makeup
unfettered by face cream and eye cream
eyes opened
and wild
and crinkled into a smile for the first time
triumphant
she knows how ironically her freedom was bought
for one hundred dollars
and how her first fancy dress
gave power to her words
and gold
tasting the lipstick-tinted flavor of
freedom and plastic-held cosmetics
reveling
in the fact that she has been
set loose by makeup
unfettered by face cream and eye cream
eyes opened
and wild
and crinkled into a smile for the first time
triumphant
she knows how ironically her freedom was bought
for one hundred dollars
and how her first fancy dress
gave power to her words

6 - Long Distance
If I
could look into your eyes
there would be a lie
Distance
and time separate
us
scattered pieces of flowers
brown
green
I don't see the lie
could look into your eyes
there would be a lie
Distance
and time separate
us
scattered pieces of flowers
brown
green
I don't see the lie

5 - The Sinkhole
The ground gapes
and in a blink
you are gone
before I can reach out
before
I can hold you up and say
We are the mountain
We are the reason there is music
because
our straws are braided into gold
because I picked you
and you picked
me
In just a blink
you could sink into the nothingness
gone
and no matter how loud I
scream
no matter if I break my hands
in a mad scramble of dirt and rock
pleading for you to come back
you won't
and in a blink
you are gone
before I can reach out
before
I can hold you up and say
We are the mountain
We are the reason there is music
because
our straws are braided into gold
because I picked you
and you picked
me
In just a blink
you could sink into the nothingness
gone
and no matter how loud I
scream
no matter if I break my hands
in a mad scramble of dirt and rock

4 - The Timeline
Don't look at me like that
We knew from the beginning
confusion
isn't cheap to pay off
and lies
aren't worth the telling
Don't look at me like that because
each breath is timed to precision
put away your stopwatch
breathe with me and
close your blinding eyes
We knew from the beginning
confusion
isn't cheap to pay off
and lies
aren't worth the telling
Don't look at me like that because
each breath is timed to precision
put away your stopwatch
breathe with me and

3 - Unwanted
They cut me
down to size
a swirl of chocolate and mossy greens
swallowing me
shoving pushing dragging me down
until at last I sighed and gave in
Acres of fresh grass and slick
blood like oil
refreshing the plants and killing them
all at once
This is what your eyes do
refresh and kill and
They can't be resisted
But then again, I never fought all that hard
did I
down to size
a swirl of chocolate and mossy greens
swallowing me
shoving pushing dragging me down
until at last I sighed and gave in
Acres of fresh grass and slick
blood like oil
refreshing the plants and killing them
all at once
This is what your eyes do
refresh and kill and
They can't be resisted
But then again, I never fought all that hard
did I

2 - Topaz
I never
realized
that
your eyes are the perfect color to match
my old car
not the red paint on the outside
the soft cushions
inside
streaked with dust and
the ends of silver strings
back when it didn't matter that
I was young
and you
were younger still.

my old car

1 - In the Center
Knock-me-down eyes
those kinds of eyes
feel the blow in the center
from each direction
circling
absorbing light like warmth
warm light reflected
and illuminating
my eyes as well.
